Ear Candling

Will this pounding/ringing in my ears ever stop?
Everything sounds muffled…
Am I loosing my hearing?
What can I do?

There’s nothing worse than experiencing ear pain or sinus headaches where you can’t work, think or sleep.

Today, more and more are seeking alternatives to digging in the ears with Q-tips or using a hydrogen peroxide flush to clear blockages in the ear canal.

Ear Candling is a natural and non-intrusive alternative that may help alleviate the painful effects of chronic headaches or sinus conditions, ear infections, minor hearing loss due to excessive ear wax buildup, allergies or vertigo.

Ear Candling, a safe procedure Today, ear candling is performed around the world as an effective, safe relief to problems such as:

How can ear candling help me?

Dry hacking cough
Many coughs are a direct result of a sinus infection. The inner ear and small sinus cavities get blocked with mucus and infection sets in. Ear Candling helps drain and dry out the small, dark places where germs live and multiply.

Sinus headaches
Blockages in the inner ear or sinus cavities can cause pressure to build. Ear Candling can help to open blocked passages.

Tinitus
Ringing in the ears can be a cause of dehydration coupled with wax buildup. Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of pure water per day. Then the Ear Candling procedure can help break down the wax.

Itchy ears
This could be caused from an abundance of  yeast in the body, creating a situation of Candida (too much sugar in the body). The Candida starting in the intestines and traveling up into the eustashion tube, can get into the sinus and ear canal. Ear Candling helps to dry out these areas.

How does it work?
It is believed as the candle burns, gentle warm smoke is drawn into the ear canal that softens and loosens candida, wax, and other debris through osmosis. This means anything on the other side of the eardrum turns into a gas form to pass through the ear drum membrane. It is then collected into the remaining unburned portion of the candle.

About the Candle

Throughout history, the process of ear candling has changed little. The hygienist begins with a hollow candle that’s made of unbleached muslin (often immersed in an aromatic herbal solution, and then dried) and shaped into a cone and dipped in beeswax. Candles made with paraffin are not used. Paraffin can cause irritation to the eyes and nose, and some people are allergic to it. For this reason, only imported beeswax candles are used made from unbleached muslin – the purest, most natural candles possible. The cost of the candle is more, but the health and safety of the client is always the only consideration.

Benefits

Excessive earwax buildup can cause discomfort, headaches, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or vertigo. Ear Candling may help alleviate these conditions. Also, ear candling may draw out fungus, infection, candida, and other debris from the outer and inner ear canals and the Eustachian tube through osmosis.

However, ear candling should be thought of as a home remedy. While many have found it safe and effective, as well as meditative, it should not replace medical treatment.

History

Ear Candling (also known as coning or ear funneling) has been practiced for centuries. It dates back as far as biblical times when hollow reeds from swamp areas were used. It has been passed down for many generations by the Egyptians, the Oriental and European cultures.

It can be traced back to the ancient times when the Greeks and Egyptians used it as a folk remedy to improve clarity and focus. Ear Candling was also practiced in cultures as diverse as the Tibetan monks and ancient Mayans. The process was basically lost to common knowledge for many years but has come into practice again and is being used by a wide cross section of people. Today, Ear Candling is performed around the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ear candling for everyone?
No! You should not have ear candling performed if you have any damage to the eardrum, ear tubes, congenital hearing loss, ankylosis of the stapes, acute mastoiditis, or recent surgical procedures to the ear.

What can I expect after an ear candling session?
You may, for a short time, feel a bit of pressure in your ears following a session. This is normal. We recommend you not fly or get fluid in your ears for 24 hours after a candling session.

Is it guaranteed to work?
While many find ear candling to be an effective procedure, everyone is different and we can't guarantee results.

How often should I have ear candling done?
It’s good to do the procedure quarterly or twice a year. If you feel like you may be coming down with a cold or virus, you should candle at that time and the healing process will start right away! This aids the immune system in healing.

Will ear candling cure an ear infection?
If you suspect that you have an inner ear infection, we recommend that you see your doctor. Ear candling is not intended to replace medical treatment.

Can infants be ear candled?
Absolutely! All age groups may enjoy this procedure.

Is ear candling painful?
Not at all; in fact, many report the experience is surprisingly relaxing and soothing. You may hear crackling sounds during your session - this is normal, and not uncomfortable.

If I buy the candles, can I ear candle myself?
You should always have someone perform this procedure for you, as the flame could be hazardous if not properly managed. As a certified ear hygienist trained in this procedure, I’m familiar with all safety aspects, as well as the proper fitting of the candle and treatment schedules.

Demo

Step 1
The ear canal is examined to determine the condition of the eardrum and extent of debris in the outer ear canal.

Step1
Step 2
A gentle massage is administered to the sinus area and outer ear to stimulate blood flow. A protective cover is placed over the clients head and hair.

Step2
Step 3
The candle is then lit and gently, but firmly, placed into the outer ear canal. This creates a vacuum, causing a subtle suction effect.

Step3
Step 4
This is a relaxing and meditative experience as the procedure continues. It’s normal to hear a slight crackling or whistling sound as the ear canal warms.  Special Note: only the best dripless candles are used. No ash cutting is necessary which makes the experience one of uninterrupted relaxation.

Step4
Step 5
The candle is carefully removed and extinguished. 2 to 3 candles are recommended in each ear in one session for maximum benefit. The procedure takes approximately 1 to 1 and ½ hours.
